SONIC!?!?

Have you heard about this!?!?!  Most teachers LOVE LOVE LOVE some Sonic!  And what better than some Sonic happy hour all day long?  Just thought I’d share!

I'm also excited to announce that I'll be attending TCU beginning in the summer for a Master's in Special Education all the while teaching in a school for kiddos with learning differences!! I'm so blessed to have this opportunity and am excited about it!

Mother’s Day Freebie!

There are SOOO many different ways to celebrate Mother’s Day and I’ve seen lots of different bloggers talking about how they do it in their classroom!
One of my favorite things is having the kiddos write about their moms.  You get such honest responses from kinders and firsties and having them talk about why they love their moms and how they help them is too cute.   I also LOVE me some acrostic poems and it’s fun for the moms to read acrostic poems about themselves! So, I created a little writing freebie pack for Mother’s Day

There are so many great ways to show the life cycle of a butterfly!  Here are some I found on Pinterest…complete with sources! Just click on the pictures to go to the original sources!
              
Annnd.  I searched YouTube for a life cycle video! And there was one!!   I would probably mute the sound and read/talk about what the video is saying. Your younger kiddos probably won’t be able to read it, but it has oodles of great info!

May the Force Be With You! and a FREEBIE!

Warning: This might be long! But stick with it because there’s something special at the end!
So Shuna @ Pocket Full of Kinders used my handy dandy product request (that little tab up above ) and requested a unit on magnets!! Lucky for me Scrappin’ Doodles has some awesome clip art! Then I got waaaayyy excited about it when I realized there was Star Wars clip art and went with a “May the Force Be With You” theme for the unit….get it?? Magnetic force??Hopefully I’m not the only weirdo who thought that was clever! It’s packed with some intro activities and suggestions (including vocab cards and a thinking map or two), 4 science activities that can be done whole or small group, 3 literacy activities (pocket chart poem, contraction, scrambled sentences), and 3 math activities (time, addition and money).  So without further ado…

Now for the FREEBIE!
My science packs have been SOOO popular!  I found that kinder kiddos (and probably even firsties) do well when having an action verb to connect to the scientific method.  Even though they are young I believe it’s so so important for them to understand the PROCESS at the most basic level.  And what better way for them to have a firm understanding than to connect each step to a verb.  So, here’s what I came up with:

It comes with a full page poster for each step with an “I” statement.  The “I” statements are:

“I wonder…”

“I think…”

“I see…”

“I discovered…”

“I know…”

These are 1/4 page cards.  You could use them on a bulletin board if you didn’t have room for the full pages.  They could also be used in a lesson about the scientific method as a sequencing activity.

This is a generic recording sheet for experiments you might do in the classroom.  There is a spot for each step labeled with the same picture and “I” statement.  This could be used for any experiment!!

There Was An Old Lady Who Swallowed a Chick-IN ACTION! and a WINNER!

So I’ve made a sweet teacher friend via this blog!  Her name is Shannon and she teaches first grade in Rio Rancho, New Mexico.  She doesn’t have a blog but a few of my items have been inspired by her requests!  Last night she sent me pictures of her class using one of my units.  I can’t tell you how full my heart felt seeing my products in action!  So I thought I would share with you! 

She was using the sequencing activity from my pack to go with There Was An Old Lady Who Swallowed a Chick by Lucille Colandro.  She had her kiddos come up and sequence the pictures on the board and then they independently completed the cut & glue activity (shown on right).
