Earth Day Poems
There are two poems included. Each poem includes a student version and a “cut and create” version.
The “cut and create” version is great to use in a pocket chart.  It is a great way to introduce it whole group and then it can be pulled into a literacy center.
Students can identify sight words, letter sounds, etc.

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
There are three headings.  These can be used in different ways.  You can bring in actual items for students to sort based on whether they can be reduced, reused or recycled.  You can also use the headings for an anchor chart where students brainstorm items that can be reduced, reused and recycled.  There are also three writing pages “I can Reduce!”, “I can Reuse!”, and “I can Recycle!”.  A graphic organizer for how they can help our earth is also included.

Layers of the Earth
This is BY FAR my favorite part of this unit! Smile It’s a food project to show the layers of the earth.  Younger kiddos don’t always understand the pictures and descriptions, so this is a great way for them to have a visual of the layers of the Earth.  It involved 3 colors of jello and a graham cracker pie crust! It’s easy but is SO memorable for the kiddos.  There are step-by-step directions, pictures and a recording sheet (cut and glue) included.

Here’s a better picture of the food project!

Math Center or Small Group
This “What Number?” activity can be done in small group or put in a math center.  Students draw a card and record the number on their recording sheet.  There are two different sets of cards: base ten blocks and tally marks.  Students can also match the base ten block cards to the correct tally mark card!

And now for the FREEBIE! Smile
