Scrappin’ Doodles has some awesome clip art! Then I got waaaayyy excited about it when I realized there was Star Wars clip art and went with a “May the Force Be With You” theme for the unit….get it?? Magnetic force??Hopefully I’m not the only weirdo who thought that was clever! It’s packed with some intro activities and suggestions (including vocab cards and a thinking map or two), 4 science activities that can be done whole or small group, 3 literacy activities (pocket chart poem, contraction, scrambled sentences), and 3 math activities (time, addition and money). My science packs have been SOOO popular! I found that kinder kiddos (and probably even firsties) do well when having an action verb to connect to the scientific method. Even though they are young I believe it’s so so important for them to understand the PROCESS at the most basic level. And what better way for them to have a firm understanding than to connect each step to a verb. So, here’s what I came up with:
It comes with a full page poster for each step with an “I” statement. The “I” statements are:
“I wonder…”
“I think…”
“I see…”
“I discovered…”
“I know…”
These are 1/4 page cards. You could use them on a bulletin board if you didn’t have room for the full pages. They could also be used in a lesson about the scientific method as a sequencing activity.
This is a generic recording sheet for experiments you might do in the classroom. There is a spot for each step labeled with the same picture and “I” statement. This could be used for any experiment!!
