Happy Memorial Day & Math Monday

Happy {almost} Memorial Day everyone! I, for one, am so incredibly thankful for the service of our military men & women and their families.  They allow us to enjoy the freedoms that we do everyday!

Here’s a quick {a little early} Math Monday post for you Smile I had some requests for numbers through 100 of my Numbers Galore, which I was happy to do.  Instead of adding another file for Teachers Pay teachers I just updated the original Numbers Galore file with the 0-100 version! Still FREE as a bird! Smile Includes print and manuscript versions of all numbers.  These are a great quick review that incorporate a lot of different math concepts.  Here’s a little peek if you weren’t sure of what they were:

Technology Tuesday!, New Feature, & Sale Reminder!

I’ve had quite a few people email and ask what programs I use to create my products so I thought I would share today!  And it just happens to be Tuesday—I’m always game for some fun alliteration. Smile
To create my documents I use Microsoft Publisher.  I know a lot of people use Microsoft Powerpoint to create theirs.  They work pretty similarly but Publisher uses pages instead of slides.  There may be a few other differences too, but I love working with Publisher! I create and then save as a PDF and voila! {Okay it’s a little more complicated than that, but you get my drift.}
After I finish a product I then move to  creating the thumbnail images.  I usually allow Teachers Pay Teachers to find the thumbnails in my PDF and choose a few for the product listing.  But for my blog I like to have a collage of the items included.  I’m a girl who doesn’t like to buy something if I don’t know what I’m paying for so I like to provide some insight into what is actually IN the product.  For this, I have been using a program called Paint.NET {You can download it for free here.}.  About a week ago, I got Photoshop Elements so I’ve been playing with that and I love it!  Paint.NET gets the job done though..and nothing is better than FREE!  It’s basically a middle of the road graphics program—better than regular Microsoft Paint but not quite the quality of Photoshop, etc.  Here’s a little step-by-step of how I use Paint.NET to create my collage images:
1. Open the PDF and zoom out until you see one full page.
2. Open Paint.NET and open TWO new image screens.
3. “Print screen” the page of the PDF you want to include.  On my keyboard I have to click the “fn” key on the bottom left and hit the “insert [prt sc]” button on the top right at the same time.
4. Paste into one of your Paint.NET windows.  It will ask if you want to expand the image…say yes.
5. Select only the page you want to include in your product thumbnail and then copy.
6. Switch to the other open image screen in Paint.NET {the one that is still blank}.  Paste your copied page into that.
7. Repeat until you have the pages you want on your collage.
**A few tips to consider:
-If you want to layer things on top of one another, there are two different ways to do it.
(1) Think about what you want on the bottom and start with that.  Then just layer on top of those…with your cover/title page being last {on top}.
OR
(2) Use the layers feature on Paint.NET.  At the top of the screen there is a “Layers” dropdown menu…you can add new layers from there.  I suggest opening the “Layers” window if you use this option.  Simply go to the “Windows” dropdown at the top and choose Layers. Then you can see all the different layers you add to your image and easily maneuver them. Also if you use the layers option, before saving you need to “Flatten” your image so that it saves correctly.  Simply go to the “Image” dropdown at the top and select “Flatten".

I’ve considered putting together a little how-to.  Would anyone be interested?
Hope this helps you!  If you have questions feel free to email!

Special thanks to Jessica at A Turn to Learn for The Lovely Blog Award!  I’ll be back with my nominations later!
Happy Spring! Don’t forget the sale ends at midnight!

More St. Patrick's Day Fun!

Here's another fun St. Patrick's Day activity.  This one is related to math!!
I have taken shamrocks and put the fact families on them.  I included the fact families for the numbers 2-20{excluding doubles}.  Then I used the same fact families and created a set with a "missing number."  This way students will have to problem solve to figure out the missing number in the fact family.  There are three recording sheets in this pack: one with addition and subtraction, one with only addition, and one with only subtraction.  You can get it HERE!
Shamrock Fact Families
This one is also on sale until Friday...normally $2.00 on sale for $1.50!

As with all of my new items, the first 2 people to comment will get it free!! :) Just leave your email in the comments!

Please feel free to let me know if you would like to see anything specific.  I'm full of ideas but always love requests too!

New stuff!!!-Freebie, Giveaway and SALE!

Sorry for the hiatus for a while!  It's been a little busy for me!

I've got a few new fun things to share!!
I had a request from someone for a Spanish version of Numbers Galore!  I've never thought about it, but I'm sure it would be great to use in bilingual or two-way immersion classes.  I've posted it on my TpT site here!

And now for some St. Patrick's Day fun!  I created my mini-unit, but still had ideas so I created a few other things as well.
St. Patrick's Day Monster Words-Real vs. Nonsense
This can be used in a literacy center!  It was created to help students with sounding out words and identifying whether they are real or nonsense words.  You can find it HERE

And now for a FREEBIE!!
Shamrock Story Map
This is great to use with any St. Patrick's Day book.  Students can write or draw a picture of the beginning, middle and end of the story.

Here's something else exciting!!  Until FRIDAY my St. Patrick's Day Monster Words-Real vs. Nonsense and my St. Patrick's Day Mini-Unit will be on SALE!!!!!!
St. Patrick's Day Mini-Unit:  Regularly $3.00.....on sale for $2.50
St. Patrick's Day Monster Words-Real vs. Nonsense: Regularly $2.50....on sale for $1.50

Annnnnndddd.....GIVEAWAY
The first 2 people to comment will get the Monster Words-Real vs. Nonsense for free!!

Sale!!-New Items too!! and of course..a FREEBIE.

I uploaded three new things to TpT today...just in time for......the BIG LEAP YEAR SALE tomorrow!  I'm sure you have heard about it and I'm joining in.  Everything in my store will be 20% off AND you can get 10% off that with the promo code L2P0Y at checkout. :)  And...here's a glimpse at the new things!
The dice games pack!!  There are 12 different dice games in this.  Some concepts covered include: addition, perimeter, area, place value, number sequencing, addition and subtraction.  You can use single or multiple dice.  OR...you can use my favorite: dice-in-dice.  Like these...

Roll and cover dice games-students roll the dice and cover the number on their game board. For each theme in this pack, there are 2 boards. One is a simple 2-6 board and the other is a 2-12 board to use with multiple dice and addition.  There are 33 different themes.  Themes included are:

-New Year's

-Snowman
-Valentine's
-100th Day
-St. Patrick's Day
-Spring (4 different ones)
-Summer Fun (2 different ones)
-4th of July
-Back to School (2 different ones)
-Fall Fun (3 different ones)
-Thanksgiving (2 different ones)
-Gingerbread
-Elf
-Reindeer
-Santa
-Community Helpers (included-dentist, doctor, farmer, firefighter, mailman, nurse, police officer)
-Cowboy
-Penguin
-Earth Day

Number sense is such a key concept for young learners. I have found that subitizing (recognizing numbers quickly) is one of the biggest skills my students need practice with. I do this by using ten frame flash cards. They can be used in many different ways, but ultimately the goal is for the students to be able to recognize the ten frame set without counting.

I have included themed ten frame flash cards with multiple representations for each number. The themes included are:
Snowflakes, Hearts, Shamrocks, Eggs, Butterflies, Suns, Apples , Acorns, Pumpkins, Turkeys, Jingle Bells, Gingerbread Men
I have also included a simple set with just black dots.

PSSSSSSS-If you go HERE and download the preview, you'll get the set with the black dots for free. :)

And, just because I'm feeling the love today.  Here's a St. Patrick's Day freebie from my roll & cover pack! :)

So, visit my TpT Store tomorrow and buy to your heart's content.  :) And don't forget all of my things are 20% off and if you enter the promo code  L2P0Y at checkout you will get 10% more off!

Thanks!!!
